We put up only one Pen Show Tray each month.

Please understand that putting a pen in your shopping cart does not secure that pen for you.
Someone could have the same pen(s) in their cart at the same time and if they complete the checkout process before you do, the pen will automatically fall out of your cart.

10 Sheaffer BCHR Student Special, Broad Nib
Condition: B+. No brassing, chips, cracks, dings or significant scratches. Beautiful hard to find check pattern in hard rubber. This early Sheaffer is all about the nib. I am pretty sure this is a factory replacement nib as originally these were a #22. Rare 14k Sheaffer broad nib writes with a smooth 0.9mm line width. A real gem. Lever Filler. Pen Length: 49/16"(116mm) capped, 511/16"(145mm) posted. Price: $165.00
11 Sheaffer 5-30 Jade Ringtop, Fine Nib
Condition: B+. No brassing, chips, cracks, dings or significant scratches. Sheaffer's introduction of colored celluloid caused a sensation in the pen word during the 1920s. This 1920s ringtop model 5-30 is made in their early Jade celluloid and the color is bright. There is a bit of discoloration to the end of the barrel and middle of the cap. The 14k fine nib writes with a smooth, firm line. Lever Filler. Pen Length: 43/4"(121mm) capped, 6"(152mm) posted. Price: $145.00
12  Sheaffer Balance Craftsman Golden Brown, Fine Nib
Condition: B+. No brassing, chips, cracks, or significant scratches. Beautiful full length slender Balance Craftsman, most likely from the WWII era.  Fine 14K nib offers a line width of 0.5mm.  Lever Filler. Pen Length: 57/16" (138mm) capped, 6" (152mm) posted Price: $140.00
13 Sheaffer Carmine Milady Balance, XXF Nib
Condition: B+. No brassing, chips, cracks, or significant scratches. This one is a bit of an anomaly. The pen barrel is marked as 350 which is a Miss Universe, but it has a Feathertouch nib which was used on the Milady. Based on what we found while restoring the pen, it had to be done in the 40s or 50s. The 14K Feathertouch nib offers a line width of 0.3mm. Vacuum Filler.  Pen Length: 51516"(151mm) capped, 6916"(167mm) posted. Price: $110.00
14 Sheaffer Balance Grey Pearl Miss Universe, Fine Nib
Condition: B+. No brassing, chips, cracks, dings or significant scratches. Our joy for the Sheaffer Balance continues with a stunning grey pearl. This model is sporting a #3 Sheaffer nib that offers a stroke width of 0.5mm. Lever Filler. Length: 41316"(122mm) capped, 55/8"(143mm) posted. Price: $135.00
15 Sheaffer Balance Junior Carmine, Fine Nib
Condition: B+. No brassing, chips, cracks, or significant scratches. A beautiful pen in a great color that is simple and yet elegant. Another anomaly as this should have a Junior nib but has a #3 instead. My best guess is this was repaired in the 50s and the only nib they had available was a #3. The 14K #3 Sheaffer nib offers a line width of 0.5mm. Lever Filler. Length: 518"(130mm) capped, 57/8"(149mm) posted. Price: $145.00
16 Sheaffer Milady Golden Brown, Fine Nib
Condition: B+. No brassing, chips, cracks, or significant scratches. Another Sheaffer we cannot quite track down the exact model. While the wire cap band would suggest a Craftsman, the original price of $5.00 vs. $3.50 tells us this is a Milady. The 14K Feather Touch nib offers a line width of 0.5mm. Lever Filler. Pen Length: 5116"(129mm) capped, 53/4"(146mm) posted. Price: $135.00
17 Sheaffer Balance Carmine Milady, XXF Nib
Condition: B+. No brassing, chips, cracks, dings or significant scratches. Our joy for Sheaffer Balances finishes off with a vacuum fill Milady in our favorite Carmine. 14K Feather Touch nib offers a line width of 0.3mm. VacuumFiller. Pen Length: 413/16"(123mm) capped, 55/8"(143mm) posted. Price: $145.00
18 Sheaffer Touchdown Valiant Burgundy, Extra Fine Nib
SOLD Condition: B+. No brassing, chips, cracks, dings or significant scratches. Produced in the 1950s this is one of Sheaffer's classic designs that did away with the lever fillers. Includes working refill. >Pen Length: 512"(140mm) capped, 63/4"(172mm) posted. Price: $85.00

SOLD Condition: B+. No brassing, chips, cracks, dings or significant scratches. The Super series of pens were Pilot’s flagship line from the mid-1950s into the 1960s. This pen was made in Japan in the early-1950s using a Vacumatic-like stacked red celluloid that really pops. The clip is also visually striking and unique. Marked “STORK” on the barrel. The gold plated steel Posting nib writes like a western medium and is super smooth. It produces a line width of 0.6mm. Quite the rare pen. Aerometric Filler. Condition: B+. No brassing, chips, cracks, dings or significant scratches. In 1937 Pelikan introduced the 100N model as a new version of their original model 100. During the war, gold and other strategic materials were restricted so pen manufacturers had to adapt. This is one of those pens that features a “CN” chromium-nickel steel nib. They were only made for a few years in this configuration and are now difficult to find. The war-time steel nib is delightfully flexible and produces an interesting line variation of 0.7mm to 1.6mm downstroke and a cross stroke of 0.3mm. Piston Filler. We grade pens according to the following condition scale. Within a grade, we use + or – to indicate shades of variation; for example, a pen that is B+ falls into the B grade and shows so little use that it is only marginally not A2.

Condition Description
A1 “Mint” (uninked). Shows no signs of use.
A2 “Mint” (inked).& As for A1 but may have been dipped or inked.
N1 New Old Stock (NOS). Unsold dealer or manufacturer stock. Not dipped or inked but may show shop wear.
N2 New Old Stock (NOS). Same as N1 but may have been dipped.
B Excellent. All parts original and showing only very slight signs of use. Very slight surface scratching; very minor discoloration or brassing; crisp imprints; no significant dings.
C Fine. All parts original. Some discoloration and brassing; light or worn imprints; small dings to metal or scratching on plastic.
D Fair. Some parts possibly not original; significant brassing or discoloration; very worn imprints; dings and scratches. Maybe a good writing pen or usable for parts.

All of our tray pens are fully restored to good writing condition unless otherwise noted. By “good writing condition” is meant, in addition to proper function, that nibs are aligned, set for reasonable flow, and not scratchy. Particularly nice writers are so noted in their descriptions.

Except for pens that are described as being in “mint” or NOS condition, these are used pens. We guarantee all of our restoration work (resacing, nib adjustments, etc.), and we ship the pens in good working order. However, they are still used pens, and we cannot make the same guarantees against defects or for length of life that their manufacturers made (such as Sheaffer's Lifetime guarantee).

CAUTION
Empirical evidence collected over several years has made it clear that some Noodler’s inks can and will destroy pens. Many vintage pens, because of the materials of which they are made, are especially susceptible to destruction by these inks. For this reason, our guarantee is void if a pen you purchase from us fails after you have used any Noodler’s ink in it. For more information, read our article on inks.
